Holiday Magic on TV

This Thursday, December 18 at around 5:50 AM I'll be joining Garry Moore on News 25 Today, WEEK-TV's morning news show.  I'll be offering some special holiday themed magic.  Be sure to tune in if you're up and about.

Goodbye to a Dear Friend

I just got the news that one of my closest and dearest friends, Andrew Dakota, passed away this week.  Though I hadn't seen him in quite some time, since we lived so far apart, I did speak to him on the phone a few weeks ago.  Though he'd been struggling with some rather severe health issues for quite some time, he was, as always, very positive and upbeat.

To those who knew Andrew, he was not only a brilliant and exceptionally creative magical artist, but also one of the kindest and most generous of persons.  Andrew was what I like to call a "wise soul".  He had tremendous compassion and deep insights into what it means to be an honorable, conscientious, and caring human being.  He was truly magical in the deepest sense.

Known in the international magic community as a prolific inventor, Andrew loved exploring a truly artistic approach to magic.  We had frequent in depth conversations not only about performing and creativity in magic, but about life, spirituality, and the nature of reality.  He was a deep thinker and a true philosopher, not just in the academic sense (though he was certainly highly intelligent and could hold his own with even the most intellectual of conversationalists), but even more in the deeper sense of having a profound, intuitive sense of wisdom about how things are and how life should be lived.

We were kindred spirits in so many different ways, and he had a profound impact on my life, as well as on that of my wife, Kathi, and on our relationship.  He was a true friend to us in the deepest sense of the word, and we will miss him greatly.  Wherever you are, Andrew, I know you'll be giving us all a knowing wink and a warm smile... until we meet again...  Farewell, my friend.

Tyroni's and Little Free Libraries

Where has November gone?  Didn't I just work at Tyroni's a few days ago?  And yet here it is:  my monthly "first Wednesday" appearance there is this Wednesday, December 5 -- as usual -- from 5:00 to 7:30 PM.  If you're out Christmas shopping, or just want to take a break from cooking, why not stop by for some great food and fun magic?

On another note, some of you may know that I recently headed up a project with my Rotary Club here in Canton of building and placing two Little Free Libraries, one at the Canton Family YMCA and one at the entrance to Big Creek Park (photo below).  These are to promote reading by sharing free books.  Anyone who wishes may "Take a Book or Return a Book".

We're currently in need of donations of children's books for the libraries.  If you have kids' books that you can donate, feel free to contact me, or if you live in Canton, you can simply drop off your books at either of the libraries.

I'm experiencing profound gratitude for all the blessings in my life, primary of which are my family, friends, and clients.  True abundance lies in the blessings of relationships. Thanks for playing a crucial role in my life.  Wishing you all the most blessed and abundant of Thanksgivings.

Mitch on WEEK-TV 25

In case you weren't up to see this at 5:50 AM this morning, here I am with Garry Moore on News 25 Today.  Talking about National Magic Week, and National Magic Day.

Just a reminder that I'll be performing at the GirlsEmpo Fundraiser this weekend to benefit the work to empower rural, low-income girls in Guatemala. It will take place during International Girls' Day at Prairie Center of the Arts (located in the Peoria Warehouse District at 1506 SW Washington St. in Peoria) from 6 - 9 pm. Celebrate all girls and help raise funds for education and girls' clubs for children living in poverty in Guatemala. A silent auction of artwork donated by local artists, gift baskets and more will take place also plus baskets and purses handcrafted by Guatemalan artisan women will be available for sale. Upcoming Appearances and Events

It's almost that time of month again... this Wednesday is the first of October, and that means Tyroni's in Bartonville.  I'll be there from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.

Coming up on Saturday, October 11, I'll be part of the festivities at the GirlsEmpo Fall Fundraiser at the Prairie Center of the Arts, benefiting their work to empower rural girls living in poverty in Guatemala.  (More on this as it gets closer.)

Also starting this month, my regular appearances on News Today on WEEK-TV will be on the 3rd Thursday of the month, the next one on October 16.  Stay tuned for updates.

Magic in the Air

At least it always feels like magic to me when spring finally (and this year, I do mean "finally"!) arrives, and everything begins turning lush and green.  And there's more of my magic in the air too.  This Saturday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, I'll be performing strolling magic at "For the Fun of It!" at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.  It's an extravaganza of fun activities, including food from several of Peoria's best restaurants, fun entertainment, an auction, the opportunity to play X-Box on the Giant Screen theatre, and of course, magic!

Also continuing Monday evenings for at least the next couple of weeks, I'm appearing at Big Racks Steakhouse in Canton. 5:30--7:30 PM, Mondays.  Hope to see you soon!

Just a reminder that I'm currently performing tableside close up magic at Big Racks Steakhouse in Canton, Monday evenings from 5:30--7:30 PM.  Great food, friendly service, astounding magic, and a terrific view out their span of picture windows!  Stop by for some fun.

A Wonder-filled Week

I have a rather full week scheduled, and wanted to share some of the activities with you.

For you early-birds, this Wednesday morning I'll once again be appearing as a guest on the morning news show on WEEK TV-25 with Garry Moore.  They've begun to promote me as "one of their favorite guests".  I'll be on probably sometime shortly before 6 AM.

Then Wednesday evening, I'll be doing my monthly appearance a Tyroni's Italian Cafe in Bartonville.

On Thursday at 6:30 PM, I'll be conducting a lecture, author reading, and book signing event for my book, A Call to Magic, at the Parlin-Ingersoll Library in Canton.

And finally, I'm excited to announce a new restaurant in my schedule.  On Monday evenings for at least the next several weeks, I'll be performing tableside close up magic at Big Racks Steakhouse in Canton.

I'm Back! (At Tyroni's Tonight)

After last month being cancelled due to snow, I'm back at Tyroni's in Bartonville tonight. You know you're getting cabin fever from all this crazy winter weather.  Why not stop by this evening for some great Italian food and mind blowing magic?  We'll save you a table!

Leap of Magic Tickets Going Fast

Ticket reservations for my Leap of Magic show at Many Lights Theatre in Canton are filling up quickly for all three shows.  If you're thinking of attending, you may want to make reservations immediately.  I'm really excited about the show, as it's an opportunity to do something a bit more theatrical with some philosophical overtones as well.  A magical experience you're sure to love (even if I do say so myself.)

Also look for me on TV this week:  on Wednesday the 19th on the morning news show on WEEK-TV 25 (probably around 5:45 AM), and I'm tentatively scheduled to do a remote video spot on Major League Baseball Network's Country Fried Fridays with (that other) Mitch Williams on Friday the 21st.

No Tyroni's Tonight, but...

Due to the inclement weather (I've had just about enough of that, haven't you?) I won't be doing my monthly spot at Tyroni's in Bartonville this evening.  I'll see you back next month on March 5.

I'm also taking a short hiatus from my regular Saturday evening appearances at Cherry Street in Galesburg, also due to weather.  We're hoping to start again the beginning of March, but I'll keep you posted here.

Meanwhile, tickets for my Leap of Magic show at Many Lights Theatre in Canton on February 21, 22, & 23 are going fast.  All three shows are about halfway sold out already.  Be sure to reserve your tickets right away by calling the Many Lights box office at 309-357-9366.  You can also check out their Facebook page.
