Christmas Magic on TV

We had to be gone unexpectedly last week due to a death in the family, so I missed my normal 3rd Thursday spot on 25 News Today on WEEK-TV, but they were kind enough to reschedule for this morning. Here's my little touch of Christmas magic!

Tragedy and Gratitude

(From my MitchInspires.com blog.)
Yesterday evening around 5:45 PM, we heard a loud boom, and the house shook as though something large had hit it.  As many of you will have heard, it was actually a huge gas-line explosion just off the downtown square here in Canton, which is just over a half mile from where we live.  One Ameren worker, who’d been working on the gas-line at the time, was killed, and several other people injured, including Dr. Tom Eiselt, a colleague from my Rotary Club here in Canton.

Tragedies such as these remind us of what’s truly important.  Coincidentally, as I’d been preparing for my monthly television segment on WEEK-TV in Peoria, I’d been thinking that having just come through this contentious election season, and since Thanksgiving is only a week away, how really important it is for us to shift our focus away from everything we think is wrong in our lives, and instead put our attention on everything that is right.  And that’s what Thanksgiving is about—celebrating our blessings of abundance.
While it’s certainly much more challenging during times of crisis and loss, this shift in focus—from dissatisfaction to gratitude—is nonetheless really important, because as creative human beings, whatever we focus on intently, we tend to increase and replicate.  Even within the context of last night’s disaster, we can be grateful that there weren’t more injuries or loss of life, as there so easily could have been.

Choosing gratitude allows us to weather the storm of adversity with more grace and acceptance.  Perhaps just as importantly, with an attitude of gratitude our subconscious mind goes to work to create more of the same, and our experience of abundance is replicated.

And of course we’re not just talking about material abundance…  Abundance can take many different forms. In our country, we have an abundance of freedoms and opportunities that many people don’t have. We can also appreciate the abundance of relationships, our friends and families, our health, our safety and security, and even our ability to help others in situations of need.  And whatever we focus on tends to expand.

In fact, when we join together in this experience of shared appreciation and gratitude, our imagination becomes enflamed with possibility, and truly magical things can often take place.  We experience our blessings expanding until our cups runneth over.  We find ourselves acting on this vision of abundance, potently charged emotionally by the feelings of gratitude, and we move unerringly towards its further manifestation.

My prayers go out to all those who suffered loss in this crisis, and I also want express my deep and abiding gratitude to all my friends, family, clients, and my many other connections for enriching my life in so many ways.  May you all have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.

National Magic Week and More

Did you know that next week, the last week in October, is National Magic Week?  And October 31, in addition to being Halloween, is also National Magic Day.  It's a great time to enjoy the wonder of live magic.

If you're looking to get your magic fix, I'll be on 25 News Today this Thursday morning, and on Friday, October 28, I'll be performing tableside close up magic at White Oaks Sports Bar and Grill here in Canton.

Then the following day, Saturday, October 29, I'll be in Momence, IL for their annual Bordertown Hauntings Halloween event.

I hope to see you at one of these events.

Finally, in case you haven't seen this yet, here's my newly updated and re-edited promotional video, which I'll also be featuring on my new Illinois Magician website.  Enjoy!

Don't Miss Out!

Just a quick announcement that beginning next week I'm going to be taking a few weeks off from my normal Friday and Saturday night spot at New Amsterdam Restaurant in Peoria.  So if you've been putting off seeing me there, this weekend will be my last for several weeks, (and it might be your last chance to see me at the current location, which boasts what is to my mind the single most breathtaking view of the Peoria riverfront.)

(Shhhhh!  Don't tell anyone, but some exciting news about New Amsterdam will be announced in the not too distant future.  Stay tuned for more soon...)

And if you want to see me there before I take my break, better hustle down this weekend:  Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  My incredible, mind-blowing tableside close up magic is free to dining and bar customer.  Stop in and say "Hi!"

Try Again Next Week...

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I won't be at New Amsterdam for my regular spots tonight (Friday, August 19) or tomorrow, Saturday night, due to having outside bookings elsewhere.  I'll be back to my regular schedule at New Amsterdam next week, which is 6:00 to 8:30 PM on both Friday and Saturday.

If you're in the Peoria area, and just can't wait until then to see me, you might choose to support the Greater Peoria Family YMCA at their Summer Soiree event, where I'll be performing strolling magic tomorrow (Saturday) evening.

Williams & Williams at New Amsterdam--the Best Entertainment & Dining Experience in Peoria

Yes, we have the same last name, but we're brothers in spirit only.  I'm so fortunate to be sharing the bill with guitar virtuoso, Greg Williams on Friday and Saturday evenings at New Amsterdam Bar and Restaurant on the Peoria riverfront.

My tableside magic begins at 6:00 and runs until 8:30.  Greg usually begins playing around 7:30 or 8:00 and goes "until late".  I've worked with a lot of musicians in my years as an entertainer, and I've got to say that Greg doesn't take a back seat to any of them.  He has a wide range of music, and his talent, both vocally and on guitar, is truly top notch, with a style all his own.

And the food at New Amsterdam is unbelievably good.  The menu is unusually eclectic, and everything I've had is truly delicious.  A couple weeks back I tried the lobster etouffee, and OMG!!! it's to die for!  One of the best Cajun/Creole dishes I've had anywhere, EVER!  I'm a big food lover, and a pretty decent gourmet cook in my own right, and in my opinion the food at New Amsterdam is some of the best in the Peoria area.

The entertainment is free to dining and bar customers, the food is absolutely outstanding, and the view of the river is breathtaking.  My unforgettable, mind blowing magic, the captivating music of Greg Williams, great food, great atmosphere--not to mention one of the largest selections of beer anywhere in the area--I may be biased, but I really believe this by far the best overall dining and entertainment experience in central Illinois.  If you haven't been out to check us out, what are you waiting for?!?

Hope to see you there soon.

If you were planning to catch me in Peoria tonight...  Just a quick announcement that I won't be appearing at New Amsterdam Restaurant this evening (as I do most Fridays and Saturdays), due to a private event I'm doing tonight out of town.  I will be resuming my regular schedule at New Amsterdam tomorrow evening from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, so if you were planning to come this evening to see me, you might consider coming tomorrow instead.  Hope to see you there sometime soon.

Great Conversation--Terrific Interview

In case you missed it, I had a terrific, inspiring conversation with Teal Gray and Tui Snider on the Teal Gray Worldwide Radio program on Tuesday night.  We talked about my book, about magic (both the performing kind, and the “magic of life” kind!), and got in-depth on the topics of inspiration, creativity, higher awareness, and living in the moment.  If you’d like to check out the replay, you can access it HERE.

After the Flood...

The waters are receding!  Come see me at New Amsterdam this weekend for a taste of my unforgettable close up sleight of hand magic, Friday and Saturday evening from 6:00--8:30 PM.  And be sure to stick around for the equally unforgettable and awesome music of my "brother in spirit", Greg Williams!  Mitch Williams for magic, Greg Williams for music, and New Amsterdam for great food, drinks, and the best time you're likely to have all week!

Flood Update

I'll be taking a break from my regular spots at New Amsterdam this weekend, as they're parking lot is still closed due to the flooding on the river.  New Amsterdam is open, and parking is available across the street near the Riverfront Museum, but since many people are choosing to postpone their visits until the closer parking is available, we've decided I'll be taking the nights off.  As of now, it looks like things should be back to normal next week, (Jan. 15 & 16) so if you were planning to see me, I'd suggest you come next week instead.  See you soon!
